US President Stopped Qualcomm Takeover

The proposed takeover of Qualcomm by Singapore based Broadcom is stopped by the US president Donald Trump on the ground of national security.

This proposed deal was worth $140bn, which would have made Broadcom the third biggest microchips producer in the world, after Intel and Samsung.

Broadcom disagreed with the decision of the US government saying, this deal would never have threatened American economy and its security too.

According to the analyst, on the ground of the present political environment in the US and other countries in the world, everybody is taking protective steps when it comes to mergers and acquisitions.

The US also recently stopped the $1.2bn sale of Moneygram to China's Ant Financial.
