Samsung Display boosts LCD production
According to the recent source, the display unit of Samsung Electronics has been currently planning to expand the much-awaited production of liquid crystal display (LCD) panels for monitors as well as televisions because millions of people desired home entertainment during the lockdowns of coronavirus pandemic.
The latest decision of one of the well-known electronics appliances’ maker of the world, Samsung display to enlarge the production of LCD panels in the mainland of South Korea for an undecided period of timeline overrides its last declaration in March that would close all production processes by the end of the year to highlight an additional modern technology.
As per the familiar source, Samsung Display stated that the actual length of extension of LCD panels production would rely on profitability assumptions as well as industry conditions. It had further added that in late October this year that it was determining a short-term expansion of the panels. Domestic media outlet IT Chosun presently reported that proposed production of LCD panels would be enlarged by a year at the demand of set manufacturing division of Samsung Electronics, explained by unnamed tech industry resource.
But a spokeswoman of Samsung Display refused to comment on the report published by the news media outlet. The trend of stay-at-home increased because of the coronavirus pandemic that led to around 30 percent of quarterly gain in the worldwide LCD panels demand in the 3rd quarter of the year amid additional television as well as notebook demand.
The technology research company TrendForce, said that the introduction of extra production capacities from the LCD makers of China expect to worsen a supply oversupply in 2021. Samsung had developed LCD panels in both South Korea and China, but it initially this year auctioned a majority of stake in LCD production unit of Suzhou to TCL Technology group corporation’s Chinese Star Optoelectronics Technology unit.
